Traditional Digital CTP dots in comparison have rounded tops resulting in variable dot gain with the degree of over-impression. As shown below, the Flexcel NX plate has sharper and smaller dots resulting in more consistent dot gain even with over-impression.




Tradtional CTP (shown below), cannot retain highlight dots without image correction. Also, the overall image looks posterized with shadow tones plugging up. With dot correction (shown below right), resulting image looks flat and muddy due to limited tonal range.
